Holy Paladin Glyphs
Patch 4.0.1 & Cataclysm Patch 4.0.3
These are the holy paladin glyph options for 4.0.1 and beyond. The are divided into prime, major, and minor glyphs. Mouse over the glyph name to see its stats.
Prime Glyphs
- Seal of Insight
This one's pretty obvious. 5% passive healing is going to be one of your choices every time.
- Word of Glory
Since Word of Glory is one of our main heals in Cataclysm this choice is also quite obvious.
- Holy Shock
This glyph is where your choice comes in. I personally see the HS glyph as a better value since it's passive crit. The Divine Favor glyph adds 10 seconds onto Divine Favor which gives 20% crit. What is better: 20% crit for 10 seconds or 5% crit always? Divine Favor also gives haste, which can be handy in certain encounters if you need the extra time with it.
- Glyph of Divine Favor
See description for Holy Shock.
Major Glyphs
- Beacon of Light
This glyph allows you to swap beacon whenever you want at no penalty.
- Divine Plea
This glyph makes Divine Plea better, which will be quite good when mana is at a premium in Cataclysm.
- Light of Dawn
Adding the ability to heal six people with LoD is pretty good, especially as raid size increases. In 5 mans, not so much.
- Cleansing
Cleanse is a very expensive spell in Cataclysm. This is a direct mana saver. You can also use cleanse mistakenly on people who do not have debuffs. These facts make this glyph attractive for mana conservation. In fights with very little cleansing, the LoD glyph will be better.
- Divinity
A decent mana boost every 10 minutes... but it's unreliably since LoH is up so infrequently.
- Lay on Hands
Used to be a minor. Complements Divinity well, but sacrificing two glyphs to boost a long cooldown spell is pretty bad.
- Long Word
This glyph reminds me of the old terrible Flash of Light glyph. Directly nerfing one of your heals up front to gain a HOT is not something you should probably be looking to do.
Minor Glyphs
- Insight
Only really useful if you die, get resurrected and need to put your seal back up.
- Blessing of Kings and Blessing of Might
Pick one, whatever you buff. It really doesn't matter honestly.
